Posties chose a bad time to get bolshie

Is it just me or does anyone else think that our postmen and women have gone bonkers? Although some will argue that the economy has turned a corner the underlying facts paint a different picture. Posties are probably going to go on strike even though they have an inflation busting pay-deal agreed a couple of years ago! Have they not noticed that the national debt is spiralling out of control and that we are heading towards three million people on the dole?
Everyone I speak to at the moment who still has a job is pretty thankful that they are not one of the unlucky ones looking for work in an incredibly tough market. The stark reality is that the UK and the US are literally going to have to raise debt over the next 10 years at an unbelievable rate just to pay back the deficits we have racked up over the last two years. The numbers are literally staggering, China is the richest country on the planet with dollar reserves at $2trillion, next year between the US and UK we will issue anywhere between $1 and $2 trillion of government bonds.
So there is no cash to pay these ridiculous demands and the timing couldn’t be worse. At the same time the Post Office has announced that it is going long on mortgages, let’s hope they do a better job of that than they are on the postal service.
